We are now looking for Research Engineer to join our Pilot Operations team.
As a Research Engineer / Project Manager, your key goal is, firstly, taking a leading role in building new piloting infra to VTT's facilities in Jyväskylä. Secondly, you will start taking care of the existing piloting infra. In this position, you will have an essential key role in how we will succeed in the renewal of the paper & board & nonwoven industry, where resources are limited and expensive.
Our team, Pilot Operations works on running the VTT’s heaviest piloting infra in Jyväskylä. Our team executes the pilot trials, modifies the existing piloting infra and builds new machines. We also take care of the daily maintenance work.
As Research Engineer, you will:
Responsibilities related to new infra:
- You will take the lead of our new pilot machine investment project (4 M€)
- Contacting machine suppliers
- Guiding the subcontracting design companies in their work
- Managing the investment project’s budget
- Documentation work
- Reporting to the management
Responsibilities related to existing infra:
- Leading smaller improvement projects
- Developing infra to fulfil the needs of continuous change coming from research projects
- Planning and organizing the daily maintenance work
- Take role in procurement and agreements
- Support research scientist planning the pilot trials and modifications
Who we are looking for:
- Relevant educational background, i.e. MSc or BSc in Machine or Process Engineering or other relevant field
- You have a strong interest in machines and technology
- You have previous project management experience and willingness to lead multi million projects
- Previous experience from manufacturing industry, from a similar role is an advantage
- You can work with English and Finnish languages
